Babysitting Co-Op

What is a babysitting co-op?

A babysitting co-op is a group of moms who agree to trade baby-sitting hours using a point basis. The co-op provides an easy, one-step babysitting service. You simply send an email with your babysitting request to the group and those who are able to babysit will respond to you directly. You then have the choice of who will watch you children.

You can use the babysitting Co-op as much as you want, or as little as you want. It's always a fair trade. When you request a sitter, you spend points. When you sit for another mom, you earn points.

How do the points work?

Every member automatically starts with 5 points. Then points are spent or earned using the following system:

1 point per child per hour for the first kid
.5 point per child per hour for every additional kid
1 point per EVERY child per hour if the babysitting gig lasts for more than 3 hours.
Points are doubled on nights (after 6pm) and weekends (Sat & Sun).
Five additional points can also be earned by being the secretary for a month.
Members who have a new baby receive 5 bonus points as a "gift" from the co-op.

How do you keep track of the points?

Members rotate being the group secretary. It is the responsibility of the babysitter to calculate and report the points earned to the secretary. You report who you babysat for...not who babysat for you.  The secretary totals all the points and updates the group spreadsheet at the end of the month.

How do I join?

Contact Beck D. to join the group. Everyone is welcome and more members just mean more babysitting options.
